My father is 82..has dementia...his pacemaker battery is in red..I believe we are gonna replace it..Although, according to my fathers wishes, not sure if we should replace..if we don't, will he be in pain or discomfort? ... you may not be able to answer that but I would like your opinion..thank you

Dear Sir/ Madam
Thanks for your query.
If he is dependent upon the pacemaker i.e. if his nature heart rhythm is slow enough to get the pacemaker activated, he will have symptoms as the battery will go down. These may include giddiness, blackouts, unexplained fall, anginal chest pain, shortness of breath, loss of consciousness etc.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder
