Will Dietary Supplement Indicate Methamphetamine In Drug Test?

Hello I ve been using oxy elite pro, a dietary supplement purchased from GNC. I will soon be scheduled for a pre-employment drug screen. I did research with usp labs and it indicated it will not give a false positive for methamphetamine. I just want to be doubly sure?

Hi,

Yes, it may cause false positive test for methamphetamine. Dietary supplement Oxyelite which is promoted for weight loss contains Fluoxetine which is a selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor commonly prescribed for treating depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Taking Fluoxetine may result in false positive tests for amphetamine, methamphetamine or LSD.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
