Will Children Recover Their Orginal Skin Tone After Jaundice?

Hi Dr, My son had a fair skin at birth. After 3 days, as per doctor s instruction phototherapy was done due to jaundice. His skin started changing color and slightly turned to dark skin. Now he is 3yrs and 2months old, does he recover his original color again?

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi...many babies have fair skin complexion at birth. The physiological jaundice you are quoting is not related to the present skin complexion of the baby. The skin complexion is related to his genes and the complexion of both the parents.
Regards - Dr. Sumanth.
