Will TB Transmit To The Child Through Mother Feeding?

hi Dr Ada B.dickinson my wife is suffering from tb since from her pregnancy.but we today came to know that she is suffering from tb. now am father of four months baby boy.i just wana know that is the motthers milk is ok for my son or it is infectious.pls tell

I can understand your concern.
No, tuberculosis can not spread in child through breast milk.
But child can get infection from mother if mother is having Pulmonary tuberculosis. Actually Pulmonary tb Patient when coughs, discharge TB bacilli in the environment.
In the environment these bacilli contain in droplets. These droplets can be inhaled by normal family members and can produce tubercular infection in lungs.
So by this mechanism, your child might get infection. But through breast milk your son well not get infection for sure.
