Will IBRANCE Cause Side Effects Like Rashes?

My wife is on ibrance for Matastatic breast cancer and I m wondering if the drug could cause side effects to me. She s been on it for a couple of weeks and this morning I noticed that my upper lip is swollen and I have a slight rash on some areas of my body. Could her saliva pass the drug on to me when we kiss?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello

It is possible to have an allergic reaction immediately after kissing someone who has eaten a foodstuff or taken medicine that you are allergic to.

Saliva may be secreting the allergens hours after the medicine has been absorbed by her body.

But it is highly unlikely to have an allergic reaction to a particular medicine that your wife has been taking for a couple of weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
