SIR, WILL HIV PCR RNA TEST COSTING APPX RS 4500/- GIVE EXACT RESULTS 6 HOURS POST EXPOSURE ? MY EXPOSURE WAS COZ OF A CONDOM BREAK. IM SURPRISE WILL THE TEST SO SOON GIVE ME EXACT STATUS ? I WENT TO MY DOCTOR. HE ASKED ME TO START PEP - VIRADAY IMMEDIATELY WHICH I HAVE DONE. PLEASE HELP ME.

Generally it will give perfect results. but after six hours it not like that. Hiv pcr is very good confirmatory test. But no test is there which give perfect results in 6 hrs after exposure. No any need of testing after six hours. Ya if you have doubt then you csn start post exposure prophylaxis no harm in that. But dont go for testing after 6 hrs.there is no meaning for that.
