Why Would The Nodule Not Have Been Detected By Mammogram?

I have been found to have by MRI a 1.2 cm heterogeneous nodule seen on my right breast. I had a mammogram in November and this did not show. My left breast was found to have cysts present which is also new.

Why would this nodule not have been detected by mammogram in November?

the detection of pre cancerous lesions in the brats depends on serval factors including the amount of fatty tissue in the brats. while mammogram is sensitive, it may not detect certain lesions. no test unfortunately is 100% sensitive and MRI is definitely more sensitive than an X-ray but it's very expensive so not recommended routinely for screening.
