Why Should Metoprolol Be Taken Post Coronary Angioplasty?

Why do I need to be on metoprolol 25mg BD post coronary angioplasty with stents x 2. My resting pulse prior to surgery and beta blocker was low 50 s. my BP was 120/70 prior. I didn t have a MI and my only risk factors are genetics. The reason I am asking is I feel very weak, my BP is 100/60 and my chest feels constantly tight. Metoprolol is beta blocker.its very helping in ischemic heart disease. it actually slows heart.help out in preventing load on heart so whether your heart rate is normal or higher you have to take it.
