Why Is My Blood Sugar Not Lowering Inspite Of Medicines?
My 4 year old type 1 diabetic son has had wacky blood sugars for 1 week following an ear infection. he has been on antibiotics . We've been giving extra insulin and hydrating / fighting ketones all week. Right now his sugar is 420, and not coming down at all after a insulin bolus x 1 hour ago. He is c/o a stomach ache and has large ketones . . . what now?

Hi he needs to be admitted for further management. His sugar, ketone bodies and electrolytes need to be monitored along with the infection. Pain abdomen is due to ketone bodies.
He needs to be hydrated well along with more insulin that is adjusted based on his responce to insulin.
I hope this information helps you. Regards
