Why I Feel Like Bone Protruding Inside My Nose?

I can feel a bone protruding in the inside of my nose, it is relatively close to the nostril, and I'm not sure, but if I would have to guess I would say it's either part of the volmer or nasal concha. It doesn't hurt at all, and it protrudes as much as maybe half the height of a fingertip, if that. It feels rounded on the top, not sharp, so I wouldn't think it's a fracture. I have not taken any serious blows to the face, and the only thing I notice is a consistent stuffy nose, but that could be due to allergies I am not aware of. I'm really just curious as to what it is and why it's like that.

Hello

Thank you for your query in HCM.

As per your clinical description it seems that you might have the following probabilities-

1. The smooth elevation is your curved and lateralized nasal septal cartilage.
Very few percentage of population in the world has a straight midline nasal septum. Thus it is a very common pathology to have Deviated Nasal Septum(DNS), and often with a bulging nasal septal cartilage towards any of the nostrils.

2. It may be a nasal spur, which feels smooth under the covering of the nasal mucosa.

3. Or it may be a furuncle inside the nostril.

If you have any clinical symptoms for it, like pain, stuffy nose( as in your case), difficulty in breathing, snoring or chronic rhinitis then you need to consult an ENT specialist for the treatment.

Hence I would suggest you not to worry at all, just do a XRay PNS and vist your Doctor for further evaluation and management.

Hope this helps you.

Regards.
