Why Do I Have Pink, Clumpy Vaginal Discharge With External Itching?

I have a pink, clumpy vaginal discharge with external itching that had been going on for about two days. I m in ortho tricycline and am prescribed to skip the placebo pills to only have a period once every three months. I would have had my period last week if I had taken the placebos. Could this just be spotting?

Hi,
With the symptoms you have described, the discharge could be due to vaginitis and for a proper treatment, you need to have a local exam, a vaginal and a cervical smear and urinalysis to identify the causative factor. Spotting is also possible in presence of infections as breakthrough bleed. Fungal infections are usually seen associated with such symptoms and need proper evaluation and medication to prevent recurrences. Please exclude high blood sugar levels and maintain genital hygiene. Hope you find this information useful. Wish you good health.
