Why Did I Suddenly See Rainbow Colours And Have Flickering In My Eye?
Hello, I was just sitting here and started to see lights as if I had looked at a lamp, seeing coloured lights. Didn't think much of it and then it was like a rainbow, almost a circle, all colours, flickering and wouldn't stop, got worse. I washed my eyes out and it improved, less of a circle and just as I'm typing the flickering stopped. Very frightening but has passed. What could have caused this?

It seems from the history that you are having problem of seeing rainbow colors or seeing colored halos.
The classical causes for colored halos are cataract, congestive glaucoma and mucopurulent conjunctivitis or deposition of flakes over cornea.
Since the colored halos disappeared on washing the eye in your case they are because of deposition of flakes over cornea. The flickering of eyelids is probably stress related hence no need to worry.
However you need to consult your eye doctor for examination for confirmation of diagnosis and treatment accordingly.
