When Should Clexane Syringe Be Taken For Little DVT In Calf ?

Hi,
Im going on a flight from brisbane to melbourne , then two days later leaving Melbourne to Phuket .... My doctor has give me a script for Clexane syringe 20mg/0.2ml.. What I need to know is when do I take them and how many will I need to use for the flight over and back ..
I had a little DVT in my calf.. Been on warfin for 6 months but have been taken off that now.

I can understand your concerns about heparin prophylaxis for flight related DVT.

You can take clexane for 5 days, starting a day before your flight. Also you can do calf exercises during your flight duration to prevent DVT. Clexane is a low molecular wt heparin. it inhibits clotting factor xa and thus prevents formation a clot in the body.
