When Do Periods Start After Taking Marvelon?

I HAD SEXUAL INTERCOURSE ON THE 7TH DAY OF MY CYCLE AND TOOK 4 TABLETS OF MARVELON AS PLAN B AND 4 MORE AFTER 12 HOURS SINCE EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTIVES ARE ILLEGAL IN THE COUNTRY I LIVE. I FOUND THAT ON THE 17TH DAY OF MY CYCLE I HAD VAGINAL BLEEDING (THICK DARK BROWN). I TOOK THAT AS MY PERIODS AND STARTED A NEW PACK OF MARVELON AS BIRTH CONTROL FROM THAT DAY. ARE MY PERIODS SUPPOSED TO COME WHEN THE PACK IS OVER OR AS PER THE USUAL DATES?

Hi,

Yes, in case of emergency, combined pills can be used as emergency contraceptive pills. According to your description you used the pills as per the required dose. But usually pregnancy is not likely on 7th day of the cycle in case of regular 28 to 30 days cycles.
Anyhow the bleeding you got on 17th day could be withdrawal bleeding due to the pills taken. Now usually you have to get the withdrawal bleeding after completing the pack. You can wait till one week after completing the pack to get the withdrawal bleeding. If you do not get the bleeding even after one week and if you want to continue the contraception, please go for urine pregnancy test to rule out the pregnancy and start the new pack.
If you do not want to continue the pills - after doing urine pregnancy test, if the test is negative, wait till withdrawal bleeding comes like for one week to ten days. Meanwhile you can use some contraception like barrier methods.
