When Do Periods Begin After Taking Duphaston?

Hi I have started duphaston 10mg for 3 days bd .I am taking duphaston for periods to come when I stop taking.Because I have to go on holidays. Does my periods come with in 2 or 3 days if not then I want to stop my periods for month. Advise needed in this regard.

Hi,

You had already started with Tab. Duphastion for preponing your menses. Normally one gets withdrawal bleeding within 8 days of stopping the pills. It may range from day 2 to day 8th depending on individual sensitivity. You see, taking hormonal pills is like an arrow out of bow.

The results can not be reverted back. Now if after taking Duphaston you want to detain your periods for one month. Only possible way is by Long acting progesterone ( projestin IUD ) - after consulting your gynecologist (for it will postpone or reduce bleeding but may have side effects like bloating and causing hormonal imbalance leading to menstrual irregularities in months to follow. )

Now weather to face the side effects of long acting progestin or have bleeding as per your previous plan. May it be a bit late, but finish with the problem of disturbance in your holidays, is to be decided by you and your gynecologist.
