What To For Some Insect Bite?

Hi. I was bitten by something I think at the beach 3 weeks ago. At first I thought it was a misquito bite but it formed a knot and is now a purple spot about the size of a dime. The knot is still there. It hurts very little if I mash on it. Is this something I should be concerned about? I have had no other symtoms and I do not know what would have bitten me. For the first several days it itched and I would scratch the top off thinking it would go away but for the past 2 or so weeks its just been the purple knot. I don t know if I should see a doctor or not. I figured if it was something to be concerned about I would have more symptoms I do have Behcets disease (an autoimmune disease) so I worry about things when the don t go away within a reasonable time. Thank you for your help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
Thank You for contacting HCM.

In most of the cases allergic response resolves itself within 10-14 days but may take even longer. Most important thing is systemic problems. As the only problem you are facing is rash so i would suggest you to wait for a week and if still it persists then you can visit a dermatologist (skin specialist). Meanwhile if itching occurs then you can take cetirizine once at night.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow
up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
Wishing you good health.
