What Tests Are Required To See Herniated Disc?

I went the chiropractor for xrays, and on my upper back there is a vertabra that is bent backwards and the gap between the lower one is less then a cm. On the xray there is a 1/2 inch gray ballon that seems to be coming out of the back of small gap. Can herniated discs be seen on a xray or only mris?

Dear sir, thanks for calling HCM, about your question we can say that the x-ray has a limitted role in assessment the spinal discs, all that we can get from it the disc spaces narrowing as an indication of disc affection, as well as the state of the spinal bones, but if we want more detalies about the disc affection and if it compress the nerve root or not so the MRI will be the ideal modality to diagnose it, hoping to give you the answer you want
thanks
