What Should I Do For Excessive Menstrual Bleeding?

Hi. I experience very heavy periods with blood clots the size of your palm. My doctor placed me on birth control and it seemed to help. Because of my extreme bleeding and the wave of depression that comes with stopping my pills for 7 days I decided to piggy back my pills and take them continuously for a couple of month. Into the last week of my second pack of pills I started to spot, then it gradually got heavier. I stopped my pills for 7 days to let my body reset and since I ve restarted my pills the bleeding has again worsened. To the point of having to change my clothes, soaking through a pad and a tampon within an hour, waking in the night to a mess, etc. What should I Do?

Hi,

As the first line of management, you can take drugs like Tranexamic Acid to control bleeding. If bleeding persists you have to consult a gynecologist and get evaluated. An ultrasound scan is required for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
