What Should I Do About Recurrent Symptoms Of Thrombocytopenia?

I had thrombocytopenia 2 years ago It seems to be returning now . Current platelets went from 159 to 129 in 7 days. I am 64, female , 300 lbs. Had stomach bypass and lost 200 lbs. I have abdominal pain hepatomegaly fatigue joint pains. I feel like my diaphragm is not working and I cant get a deep breath in. I have no diabetes or cholesterol. I feel like I am dying. I cant breath well .endoscopy did not reveal any problems or strictures in the bypass. I had chemo 2 years ago but don t want to do it again. Please help.

Hi,

This is very mild thrombocytopenia unlikely to cause any symptoms. Your hemoglobin must be low giving rise to symptoms you are describing. Improve it and your breathlessness will improve. Gastric bypass does cause reduction in Hb.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

This is moderate thrombocytopenia of no worry. The other problems you have, if they are redressed your thrombocytopenia will improve. You need to care for other problems like arthritis are any other gastric disorder, platelet count will improve. I will love to have your peripheral blood smear picture to advise you what more you should do.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
