What Procedure To Follow After A Bad Fall?

My 8 year old son fell out of a tree today & landed flat in his back. He said that everything went black for just a second & he was really scared but seemed ok. Now he says that his stomach hurts a little and that his left side ribs are hurting of & on. He also says that when he sneezed it made throbbing pain in his back. Is this to be expected for a few days Or could something serious be wrong?
