What Is The Treatment For Viral Infection ?
I have a viral infection had it for a week now doc gave me a ventolin inhaler and phenolcodiene suppressant should it be getting better by now as my head feels like its going to explode my cough keeps me awake all night and day should I go back to doc or let it ride it s time I go on holiday in two weeks and want to be in good health as I already have high blood pressure and a heart condition any advice please thanks

As you mentioned that you are already getting drugs for high B P and heart condition .
After viral infection you are getting ventolin ( bronchodilator ) and codeine cough syrup .
Still severe cough present with throbbing pain in head.
In my opinion , since you are a heart patient so please continue your heart and B P medicines .
When such patient visit in my clinic I usually advise them to take monteleukast+ bambuterol ( in combo pack ) tablets twice in day till complete relief .In my opinion all these symptoms are due to bronchoconstriction , so bronchodilator medicine is necessary.
As you are also taking codeine , I usually don't advise my patient to use codeine syrup ( because if they are heart patient as you are.).
Coffee ( hot ) , steam inhalation also help .
In my opinion after your holiday consult a Cardiologist and get his opinion .
