What Is The Treatment For Red Man's Syndrome?

Hello I am trying to find some answers.. My boyfriend had Redmans Syndrome and was hospitalized for 3.5 months, first 35 days was in the MICU off and on the ventilator 4 times, 3 heart attacks, infections etc. He now has a pacemaker and is on dialysis. When he first came home he was doing very well but for the last week I have noticed his left arm twitching and his left foot also. He sleeps all but 3.5 to 4.0 hours a day and doesn't have the leg strength like he did (he had to learn to walk and was doing great). The doctor doesn't seem concerned since his stats are all reading well but I'm sure there's something going on with him that needs addressed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Red man syndrome is a peripheral vasodilation from vancomycin. It is a temporary result from impurities in the drug that cannot be entirely removed. It can be minimized by giving the vancomycin at a low rate. Patients can become sensitized to the infusion by a number of ways and can (but usually do NOT) become more likely to have it with subsequent infusions.
And.... leg twitching is not related to vancomycin in the past except secondarily due to electrolyte issues associated with dialysis.
