What Is The Treatment For Frequent Urination?

25 year old male. I seem to have an increased urgency in going to the toilet, although this will sometimes be just blood and mucus discharge, and there is also quite a lot of bleeding in any normal bowel movement. The blood is usually bright red but will sometimes be darker with more diarrohea like stools (which could be due to the mix?). I also have rumbling in lower bowel and increased gas which seems to be worse in the 24 hours after eating certain type of foods (curry and pizza seem to have been two specific 'triggers' in the past few weeks). I have no stomach pain or cramping (occassional discomfort but this feels more down to trapped wind when i have increased gas), no weight loss and no loss of appetite. The problem seems to be worse when i am sat down for a long period of time. Been to GP and gave stool sample which came back negative, been referred to the hospital but will have to wait a number of months before an appointment. Any suggestions on a diagnosis and how to get this under control in the meantime?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The most possible cause of frequency of stool with blood and mucus seems to be an inflammatory bowel condition, which should be evaluated and managed accordingly.

Dietary measures, GI-specific antibiotics and supportive therapy will be the main line of control.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
