What Is The Treatment For Chest Pain And Costochondritis?
Now im not sure if this website is legit...however i have been researching for literally a year now. I noticed 2 novembers ago that my left rib cage on the left side under my breast is a good 3 inches longer and inch taller than my other rib (as far as i and my doctor can see). (this is about the area that the bone and cartilage meet). Ever since i have had bothersome sharp and dull pains in this spot, along with some random sharp and achy chest pains. One second i will be having uncomfortable pains and aches, yet the next i am perfectly fine. i got a CT, chest xray, and blood tests last winter. all came back normal. thorasic surg. said i have growing pains and costochondritis. Nothing has worsened or improved since...however this is all new to me discovering the rib. any ideas? cause im out of them.
Hello, I am wondering if you have noticed any changes since you have had the X-ray and the CT scan? If the area is getting larger, perhaps you should have another X-ray just to make sure that everything is OK. Sometimes benign growths can grow on the bone and cause discomfort. If you indeed have costrocondritis (inflammation of the cartilage where it attached to the bone), the best treatment is anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen. If you have pain, take ibuprofen every 6 hours for a few days and see if it helps.
