What Is The Treatment For 75 Year Old Suffering From Severe Itching In Tailbone, Buttocks Area And Bedsore?
Patient is 75 yr old in last 3 days has complained of severe itching in tailbone and buttocks area. This area is very red. The tailbone has a 2 month old raised skin on the right side of the tailbone crevice. It is believed this bedsore is causing the severe itching. It is not open. Treating with pink ointment clomesepten? but now with itching nothing seems to relieve it but icepack all other ointments seem to not relieve the itch. Patient is mostly bedridden. some relief has been allowed with meds - benydril 25mg. and tylinol for 4-6 hours. Itching returns significantly after tube feeding within an hour
Dear Friend. Welcome to HCM. I understand your concern. Bed sore can be prevented better than treated. You should do the following things : 1. Lateral position nursing. 2. Air mattress 3. 2 hourly change in position. 4. Build hemoglobin and protein 5. Show to doctor if infected he will give you antibiotics. 6. Anti septic powder locally.
