Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Acne can last for years and even decades.
Severe acne Or acne that is long standing, is an indication for treatment with Oral Retinoids e.g Isotretinoin.
Oral retinoids are antiinflammatory, sebostatic and comedolytic in action. They offer the only chance of long term cure.
Oral retinoids need to be given for 6-8 months Or a total cummulative dose of 120-140 mg/kg. This dose offers the best chance of cure in acne.
In addition to oral retinoids you may use topical antiacne medications like benzoyl peroxide gel or body wash for acne on torso.
For face I would suggest a salicylic acid based face wash. That would be effective in oil control and is also exfoliating in action thus preventing new acne formation.
You may use topical clindamycin gel for active acne spots on face during day time.
At night a topical retinoid e.g adapalene gel on face, over the whole affected area would be suitable.
It would be better if you can avoid sunscreens because sunscreens are oily and can cause more acne to erupt in skin that is already oily. Besides, sunscreens have no role whatsoever in treatment of acne.
I suggest you to visit a dermatologist in your region. Your dermatologist will assess the severity of acne and guide accordingly.
Treatment of acne needs to be modified depending on response, therefore, it is important to follow up regularly with a dermatologist.
