What Is The Reason For Reoccurence Of Skin Itching And How Can It Be Treated ?

Hello, My father who is 60 year old, is suffering from severe skin itching from the last three years. We have consulted many doctors from New Delhi but there has been no relief. There has been no clear diagnosis of why the itching occurs. Please suggest good doctors who we can consult in any of the metro cities. Thanks, Namrata

Hi, Narmadaji,
Thanks for query,
due to age skin becomes loose and dry causing itching.
As you have consulted few dermatologists,if any thing wrong or any disease they might found out.
Ruled out diabetes.
Apply Vaseline or moisturizing cream on the part.
Give vit A,D, and other multivitamin supplements.

Welcome To HealthcareMagic forum,

Itching at this age could be either due to dry skin (senile xerosis) or any systemic causes.Systemic causes like liver problem ,kidney problem etc.Also thyroid problem needs to be ruled out.At times raised urea level or altered liver enzymes can lead to itching.

So kindly get all the relevant examinations done to rule out systemic causes.If you are in delhi you can meet Dr.ZHEER AHMED (dermatologist) for this.
