What Is The Prognosis While Suffering From Heart Failure?

My Dad has had triple bypass three years ago, after a heart attack, has just had another heart attack 6 days ago , is 79,diabetic, with 15% heart function, and in ICU now. His BP is erratic. What is his life expectancy? We are very nervous of what to expect

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Unfortunately this is a question that can be answered only by the treating cardiologist. You see after the heart attack, EF and BP vary. So these parameters are not something by which I can predict the status. What really needs to be done is the angiography. That will tell us the exact status. So if you can let me know the status of the angiography and if you can upload the prior and the current electrocardiograms, I may be able to help you further.
