What Is The Increasing Hazy Spot In The Eye That Causes Constant Rubbing ?

I have an (almost) 9 month old who has dark almost black eyes. Over the last month Ive noticed he has a light area in his eye in pictures. Its a hazy spot almost like reflective, It's gotten bigger and he's constantly rubbing his eye. In the last week, I've noticed it in his other eye as well. Theyre not on the pupil, only where the color is. Im worried about it, but he has an appt with his pedi on monday.
