What Is The Electric Shock Like Sensation I Feel In My Thigh Muscles?

After about 6 miles of running both quads start feeling like tiny electrical shocks. Use to do this until I started electrolytes while running. Did this while running over 12 -20 miles. Just came off a 4 month recovery break for my knee and starting to run again. What is this?

Hello,

It may be due to nerve root compression or peripheral neuropathy or arachnoiditis or electrolyte imbalance etc.Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Neuralgia parasitic may also present like this.

Lhermitte's sign seen in cervical spondylosis or multiple sclerosis in which shock like sensation in the legs. Please get MRI spine, nerve conduction study and serum B12 level then consult your neurophysician, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
