What Is The Difference Between Thyronorm And Thyroxine?

I was taking Thyroxin .50 and after after my TSH reached 9.38, the doctor advised me Thyroxin .75. After 45 days of proper diet, exercise and mediaction, my TSH level has come down to .30 Now the doctor has advised that I take Thyronorm .625 My question - Is there a difference in Throxine and Thyronorm or are they simply names of the same medicine manufactured by different labs? Thanks very much

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Thyroxin (L-thyroxine sodium) and Thyronorm ( Levothyroxine sodium) are the same and are used to treat an under-active thyroid in cases of hypothyroidism.
They replace or provide more thyroid hormone, which is normally produced by the thyroid gland.
Doctor might have changed because the dose might have needed to be adjusted according to the TSH hormone level.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
