What Is The Cause Of Swelling In My Leg After A Bypass Surgery?

I had a mechanical aourtic valve installed in my heart and triple bypass surgery 3 years ago. i take cumidan and the veins were removed from my left leg for bypass. my left leg is throbbing now and swollen almost twice the size of my right leg. My INR was 2.2 tonight when I checked it on a weekly basis. should I be concerned about my leg suddenly swelling and the numb tingling it is doing tonight? I did fall about a week ago on my knee at work, bruised it and it swoll up some on my knee and ankle. now all the sudden it is all swollen and tingling. Should I be concerned and should I show my doctor tomorrow?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query,
This could simply an inflammatory process seen in some patients after the procedure. however, serious conditions like thrombophlebitis and deep venous thrombosis, that predispose to ulmonary embolism must be carefully checked for. Kind regards
