What Is The Cause Of Recurring Bruise And Swelling On Foot Without Trauma?

I have a bruise accompanied with swelling on my foot, right under mu pinky toe that wraps around from top to bottom. I haven t hit my toe or foot and the bruise comes back every few weeks for no apparent reason. It will be fine, then get sore, then a bruise appears and my pinky toe goes numb. What could be the cause of a reoccurring bruise when no trauma has taken place. Sometimes I ll go to bed fine and wake up with the bruise.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case history.

Arterio-venous malformationmay lead to such swelling on foot.

Due to pressure effect there can be internal injury to bone and soft tissue.
Traumatic injury can lead to bruise due to hematoma formation which may turn blue.

For these symptoms analgesic and anti-inflammatory can be started.

Till time take medication and apply crepe bandage over foot and ankle or use supportive splint. Do ice fomentation and rest to foot and leg.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
