Hi, my daugther was hit by a car as pedestrian on the right hip. She is ok, but soon after the accident she started having hip pain. She was diagnosed with snapping hip six months later, but my question is is it possible that the accident would have been the main reason of her pain and diagnosis?
Snapping hip is a condition in which you feel a snapping sensation or hear a popping sound in your hip when you walk, get up from a chair, or swing your leg around. The snapping sensation occurs when a muscle or tendon (the strong tissue that connects muscle to bone) moves over a bony protrusion in your hip. Yes it is possible that the main reason is the car a it can lead to hip fractures as well. The diagnosis of snapping hip is seldom associated with pain and the diagnosis of a hip fracture is more common in accidents. However having said that i hope your doctor has done a thorough clinical examination along with an xray/ct scan to rule out a fracture. I hope i have answered your question
