What Is The Cause Of Black Knuckles?

I was studying in my college library. The backs of my hands and finger tips turned black/gray. I am caucasian. You could see the black in the creases of my nuckles. I had no other symptoms and no difficulties. This lasted for 6-7 hours. When I awakened the next morning, it was fully gone.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

It maybe related to different things such as : Acanthosis nigricans, Vitamin B-12 deficiency, Drug reactions, Dermatomyositis, Addison’s disease, Scleroderma, Polycystic ovary syndrome or Autoimmune disorders. If your knuckles become darker and you don’t know why, it’s a good idea to follow up with your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sam Salahia, Dermatologist
