What Is The Cause And Treatment For Vaginal Infection?

Red, itchy clitoris and very light yellow discharge from it? I have a yellow discharge that is light but I believe it is coming from my clitoris. I believe it is coming from my clitoris because I see the discharge at the top of my underwear, it does have a smell. My clitoris and the area around it is red and itchy, but the rest of my vagina is okay. I just came off my period last week. Could this be an std? The last time I had sex was in January. This seems to happen every now and then and then it goes away. What could it be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Clitoris is a most sensitive part in genitals. Irritants and soaps used for washing also can cause the condition like you mentioned. Fungal infection is another possibility. A swab test should be done also. Avoid using soaps and irritants to wash the area and instead you can use saline or warm water. You can also use intimate wash daily. Using ointments with combination of antifungal like miconazole , anti bacterial like neomycin and corticosteroid like beclamethasone will be helpful.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
