What Is Stinging Sensation In Mouth Suggestive Of?

I was just looking up Nystatin oral information. My mother has a ongoing problem of what she says is stings in her mouth or wires. Her physician says its just her dementia. Recently she saw another dr and he gave her the above drug.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain Nystatin is anti fungal medication and is advised if an individual is diagnosed with fungal infection..
Stinging and soreness inside the mouth can be due to fungal infection known as Oral Thrush while can be due to other causes like deficiencies of Iron and Vitamin B12, dry mouth, acid reflux, traumatic injury caused by sharp edges of teeth, side effects of medicines etc..
I would suggest you to consult a Dentist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Oral swab culture and blood tests can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

As of now she can gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
Do cool water rinses and suck ice..
Take Vitamin B complex supplements..
Avoid spicy foods..
Drink plenty of water to prevent dryness..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
