What Is Prognosis And Treatment For Enlarged Heart In Newborn?

I just give birth to my son Cs 2days ago,they find out that he has enlarged heart.they said he need operation very soon.I don t understand everything they explain to me.How it works the operation and how long will do the operation?Hope you can help me to understand everything. Thanks ,

Thanks for posting your query at HealthCareMagic. You have mentioned that your newborn child has an enlarged heart. What you have not indicated is whether the child has any associated problems like cyanois (bluish discolouration of skin) or respiratory distress and whether an echocardiogram has been done. As such ventricular septal defect is the most common congenital heart defect but there is no role of being presumptive. Unless I have the echocardiogram report, I cannot comment on the requirement of surgry and hence the duration of surgery too cannot be commented upon.
