h,i Am 36 yrs old pregnant from Andra pradesh. I have 4 yrs daughter with good health. this is my 2 nd pregnancy and amniocyths was done, and th.e report showed trisomy 21.and tiffa scan is also advised. am worried about my baby in the womb.what should i do now.is my baby all right?
Hi, Thanks for using healthcaremagic. Amniocentesis is a very specific investigation and if it has reported as trisomy 21 then it should be accurate as it evaluated the chromosomes of the baby. Trisomy 21 is a condition called Down's syndrome. It is a condition in which the baby has many anomalies including mental retardation. TIFFA scan means Targeted Imaging For Fetal Anomalies. It is a targeted anomaly ultrasound scan for the fetus to detect the anomalies of the baby. So the doctor must be interested in knowing the associated anomalies of the baby to determine the necessary action that should be taken. Hope it sorts your problem.
