What Is Meaning Of Peripheral Superolateral Labral Tear?

hello i have had severe hip pain for more then 7 months now n i just had an MRI with dye shot in it. under impressions it say 1. Peripheral superolateral labral tear 2. Abnormal marrow signal along subcapital aspect of superior femoral head. This area of abnornmal low T1 height T2 curvilinear signal is concerning for an area of developing avascular. Can you please help me make sense of all this

Thanks for writing in.

I suppose you have got MRI hip and MR arthrography done for pain.

The joint consists of a capsule and labrum and contains the head of femur. The labrum is a spongy tissue which is showing tear in its upper and outer part. (peripheral superolateral tear).

There is also part of the head of femur which is showing changes due to decreased blood supply. This is called avascular necrosis.

Both these above are causing you painful movements at the hip joint.
