What Is An Alternative Of Lasix To Manage Water Retention And Swelling In The Body?

I am 72 years old with a mechanical heart valve and pace maker since 2006 and in 2017 had kidney cancer and my left kidney removed but just cant seem to get my strength back and have trouble with water weight and swelling and breathing again. Is there something I can do to help this besides taking more Lasix?

Hi,

Lasix is composed of 'Furosemide', which is a medication used to treat fluid retention due to heart failure, liver scarring or kidney disease. The other alternatives to lasix would be hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) and spironolactone. Kindly consult your doctor for appropriate dose to be taken before switching over from one pill to another.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S.
