Hi, My wife had twin pregnancy. During her level II test one of the baby was diagnosed with Mild Pelvicalyceal Separation in Bilateral Kidney. After the birth we again went for the ultrasound of both the babies and one of the was diagnosed with “Mild Pelvicalyceal Separation in Bilateral Kidney with AP diameter measuring 9.4mm on right side and 7 mm on left side. It is also mentioned in the report that Mild Pelvicalyceal Separation in Bilateral Kidney, likely due to partial pelviureteric junction obstruction. Urinary bladder is partially distended”.
What is Mild Pelvicalyceal Separation ? What are complications of this? Whom should we refer to a Pediatric Urologist, Nephrologist or who else?

Pelvicalyceal separation is means dilatation of part of kidney and ureter and this occurs in obstruction to the urine flow in the ureter.
This problem has to be corrected, if not corrected this will lead to frequent urine infection and loss of kidney function of the involved side.
I advise you to consult the pediatric urologist for further advice.
