Hello I was wondering about the harmfull effects of gas fumes. I am around gasoline on a dailly basis where I work. but I try to keep the area as ventilated as possible. I think that what I am around most is just the smell and not the actual fumes is this harmfull for my body?
hello, you are very right to be concerned about gas fumes that you are inhaling. most common gases that are released are carbon dioxide, carbon mono-oxide, sulfur di-oxide, nitrogen oxides and a lot of other organic compounds and particulates. As for the health aspects, they mostly affect your respiratory system, immediate effect being acute bronchitis and suffocation, delayed effects like chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, lung cancer, emphysema, respiratory allergies, along with neurological and skin problems. As you are exposed on daily basis, i would suggest you to wear a mask while at work, also suggest installing an exhaust and try doing a little jogging and some breathing exercises, these will improve your lung function. Also do look into various other methods of prevention and control of air pollution. good luck and stay healthy.
