What Does Weight Gain With TSH 3rd Gen And T4 Levels - 11.36 And 0.61 Indicate?
I am a 54yowf. I am active. Eat fairly well. But my weight continues to increase from 115lbs in 2008 to 180lbs today. I had a DAT TSH 3rd GEN it was 11.36. DAT FREE T4 was 0.61. Why is my weight constantly going up and why isn t my exercising helping it go down?
Hello. Welcome and thank you for using HCM! I carefully read your query. From the above results i can say that your thyroid isn't functioning properly and this is called hypothyroidism. As the thyroid hormones are responsible for the rate of metabolism, the low level of FT4 and FT3 is going to slow it and you may have these symptoms;
-Weight gain -Constipation -Low heart rate -Feeling sleepy -Fatigue ect.
It doesn't mean that you might have all the above symptoms, the weight gain is a common complain and in general it takes 2-3 months treatment in order to correct the hormonal level and to improve the symptoms. With this hormonal report if you were a patient at my clinic, i would recommend you to start the treatment with levothyroxine in order to prevent future atherosclerotic and lipid disorders and to improve your symptoms.
