What Does Trophoblasts And Gestational Endometrial Fragments In Biopsy Report Suggest?
i have a friend who had a miscarriage last month. the result of the biopsy for diagnosis is placental tissues ,completion curettage.decidua and immature placental tissues.for the microscopic description it says:sections show several fragments of decidual tissue and chronic villi.Occasional extravillous trophoblasts and gestational endometrial fragments are likewise seen.Few scattered neutrophils are present in some decidual tissue. No malignancy is evident.please help us understand the result.
Hello and welcome to HCM, The interpretation of the biopsy report is as follows: Presence of placental tissue, decidua, trophoblast and chronic villi suggest miscarriage of a viable pregnancy. Thus, the report confirms presence of pregnancy and no other pathology or abnormality is detected.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
