Hi,

Gestational sac is the large fluid filled cavity contains the yolk sac and embryonic pole. Over time the amniotic sac which contains the embryo expands and occupy the most of the gestational sac after which the gestational sac will be called as amniotic sac with embryo in situ.

For Medical termination of pregnancy, the entire gestational sac should be removed to avoid any complications. If there is any remnants of the products of conception remains inside the uterus, there is high chance of infections which may be lethal over time. Surgical evacuation is necessary to clear the products of conception that is the whole gestational sac to prevent any future complications. Since, it is in your report that there are remains of gestational sac, dilatation and curettage is advised. Visit the gynecologist for further management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
