What Does This Ultrasound Report Indicate?

I have just had an ultrasound and the report mentions the right kidney measures 11.1cm with good corticomedullary differentiation. Irregular cortical outline and focal cortical thinning is seen within the right kidney. Left kidney measures 13.2cm. No evidence of free fluid. What do I do about this and which type of doctor do I need to see to fi. This?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
I can understand your concern.
I would like to know the reason for the ultrasound to be done?
Cortical thinning can be due to a minfectious focus or a more serious chronic renal disease.
I would suggest a complete urine analysis, blood urea and serum creatinine checked.
Kindly consult a nephrologist who will ask you to undergo a few other tests to determine the functioning of the kidney based on which further evaluation can be planned.
Feel free to ask further queries.
Thanks for choosing HCM
