What Does This Following Lab Report Indicate?
Hello Dr. I have 1. Mild to moderate disc degeneration of the cervical spine with multiple disc osteophyte complexes and facet arthropathy and underlying congenital spinal stenosis. 2. C3-4 and C6-7, there is posterior disc osteophyte complex with moderate spinal stenosis and mild bilateral foraminal stenosis. 3. c5-6, there is left foraminal osteophyte complex with moderate to severe left foraminal narrowing with nerve root impingement and mild right foraminal stenosis with mild underlying congenital spinal stenosis. Please explain this to me.

Hello,
As the MRI indicated there is a mild to moderate disc degeneration of the cervical spine at multiple levels I think you must be having symptoms of pain in the neck and radiating to the upper limb.
As due to degenerative changes there is a nerve root entrapment and Changes in the normal alignment of the anatomical joints of the cervical spine.
There will be even reduction in the overall functions of the nerve which might affect the upper limbs.
We need to correlate all of this with the clinical symptoms and if we found that the symptoms of the clinical examination are mild then with conservative management we can treat you and the ADL can be improved.
But if the symptoms are on a heavier side then surgery might be recommended but very few will opt for surgery in my clinical experience and majority recovers well with conservative management like - medication, Rest and exercise.
