What Does This X-ray Report For Lungs Indicate?

My mum is an ex cancer patient for breast cancer 5 years ago in her right breast and during her yearly check up the lung X-ray stated faint nodular shadow in the upper part of the left lung.. Does this mean its tumor? She has calcifications appearing in the mammogram in this left breast as well.

Hi,

This faint nodular shadow may be due to scar or calcification from old healed infection, any tumor of the lung (benign or malignant). A faint nodular shadow on an X-ray may be also due to tubercular infection. In the case of your mum, as she is a known case of previously breast cancer, hence a metastasis to lung is also to be ruled out. In this case, further follow up is needed by follow up imaging and blood test etc.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
