I just had a MRI and a MRA done a week ago. I have no vascular disease, nor diabetic. I am 57 year old, survivor of cervical cancer and a smoker. I also served in the Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune during the time of highly contaminated toxic water. My MRI results is Chronic Microvascular Ischemic Disease with Bilateral Subcortical lesions. What is it indicating?
Welcome to Health care magic. 1.You don't have to have a vascular disease to have microvascular ischemic changes, cervical cancer itself can be the cause for the vascular occlusion and causing the changes. 2. As a complications of cervical cancer - there is possibility of thrombus formation and vascular occlusion. 3.Longstanding smoking history also gives vascular changes with calcifications followed by the blocks. 4.There are lesions noted in the bilateral subcortical lesions - probably enhancing. 5.But bilateral suspicious about the vascular cause. Good luck. Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health. Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
